Flip/Flop February Day 8: Black and White

Heeeeey ya'll!  It's Friday!  Let me get an amen on that!  Today is day 8 of the Flip/Flop Challenge hosted by Jilltastic Nail Design.  The options we challengers had to choose from was color blocking or black and white.  I chose black and white in a design I've never tried before.

So looking at these pictures and typing up this blog - I think this is the one and only, strictly black and white mani I've ever done before!  That's kinda crazy!  Anyway... I have no idea what this design is called but I've seen it in a few places and always thought it would be neat to try.  Maybe this is the design I've seen called Merge... ?  It fits even if it's not right.  lol.

The polishes I used are my (apparently) go-to white, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and Milani Black Swift.  Black swift - although it paints and covers really well - is horrible to clean up, especially next to white.

This isn't perfect, I'd rather the transition "drips" be a little smoother looking but overall I was so happy with this look!  It was super cute in real life and the small imperfections were not noticeable at practical distance.  I want to do this design again with lots of different color combinations...think of the possibilities!!!!!  lol.  Practice is in order!

I hope ya'll enjoyed this one because it was definitely one of my favorites so far in the challenge.

Please take a minute and check out the other ladies designs for Day 8!

  1. I did this one too, but in purples! And without the dots other than on the border between the two colors. I like this mani any time I see it, visually interesting without being gaudy.

    1. I saw that! I think your middle dots came out better though! Mine were too close together so not as smooth of a transition. I love this design too!!

  2. putting the white at the base of the nail was a smart move, given the clean-up. it reminds me of a lava lamp. love it!

    1. It really does! It should be called the lava lamp design. At first I was thinking you meant Color Club Lava lamp and I was like... no?
