Flip/Flop February Day 7: Sugar Spun

Hey ya'll!  Whew - Day 7 of the Flip/Flop February Challenge!  For Day 7 our choices were Sugar Spun or Pattern.  I chose sugar spun.  Before this manicure - I had never done sugar spun and I wanted to try it.  However, if I had thought this through a little more, I would've realized how close the look is between "Fan brush" nails and "Sugar Spun" nails - AND that they were back to back on the challenge.  The reason I didn't realize this before now is I did Sugar Spun long before I went out and bought the fan brush in order to do the Fan Brush nails!  None the less here they are.

For this design I used a base of Butter London Bossy Boots and then I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure (CSM) Buttercup, OPI Charged Up Cherry and Revlon Royal for the sugar spun effect.

I am very pleased with how these nails turned out - but don't let the photos fool you.  These were the only 4 nails that turned out this good.  And even if other nails turned out well, this technique is hard.  And time consuming.  I was literally falling asleep as I was stirring the polish to try and get it to the consistency it needs to be to "spin".  I was really kind of frustrated with the whole process by the time I was done.  I didn't even sleep in these - just took them off and went to bed because I was in no mood to finish the nails I hadn't done!  lol.

Looking at these pictures now - I think the colors are cute together, and I might group them again in the future for a different, less annoying design.  Am I the only one that find this technique irksome?  How do ya'll feel about it?

See you guys tomorrow for Day 8: Color Blocking or Black & White!!  I'm excited for this one!

Please don't forget to click through and check out the other gals' patterns and sugar spun nails!

    1. Whew girl - you need a lot of patience, the whole waiting for the polish to get stringy enough is really what got me. That part is so annoying! I there a good way to get it dry enough?
