Flip/Flop February Day 11: Splatter

Good Monday morning ya'll!  Remember on Day 9 when I said I was wearing something waaay cool and I couldn't talk about it because it wasn't Day 11??  Well - today is Day 11!!  We had the option today of Splatter or Cocktail Nails.  I went with splatter for a couple of reasons.  1 - I love the way a splatter mani looks and after a failed attempt about a year ago, I've wanted to try another one so bad.  2 - Even after looking at the explanation of the cocktail nails, I was kind of confused.  So here they are, my splatter nails!

There are lots of tutorials you can find out there for how to do a splatter mani.  Basically, you paint a base color.  Then, you puddle another polish on a plate/wax paper/plastic bag/aluminum foil/whatever, and dip the end of a straw into it.  Aiming the straw at your nail, blow through the other end of the straw to splatter the paint onto the nail.  You can do this with as many colors as you want and it's sooooo fun!  (Kinda messy, but so fun!)

I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls as my base color.  No surprise there.  Then I splattered onto the nail using China Glaze Celtic Sun and Wet 'n Wild Black Creme.  I love the way Black Creme splattered.  Hard to tell in these photos, but I put a coat of INM Northern Nights on and finished it all with Seche Vite.

Hope you guys like it - because I was thrilled with the results.  I'll definitely be doing this again.  Next up...Drips or Matte!

Go check out the other girls designs for today!  I hope I get to see a lot of other cool splatters!

    1. I DID tape around my fingers! But no, no where near as messy as a water marble. You could do it without taping. Just definitely make sure you cover the surface you're working on with paper towels or something. I had wax paper taped to my desk. And you can see in some of the pics a little was splattered on the bottle, lol.
