Flip/Flop February Day 3: Water Marble

Happy Sunday ya'll!  Today is Day 3 in the Flip/Flop February challenge hosted by Jilltastic Nail Design.  Options were water marble or dry marble - I chose water marble!  I have wanted to marble with my China Glaze Summer Neons since I saw Cristina at Let Them Have Polish do it [here].  Seriously, go look at it.  I'll wait....... Isn't that awesome?    SO, I figured today's challenge would give me the perfect opportunity.

For this water marble I used all China Glaze: Love's a Beach (pink), Splish Splash (blue) and Sun-kissed (yellow).  These all have very good formulas on their own, especially for neons!  I've tried to marble with neons before and they just don't work.  Historically neon polishes dry quite fast making it impossible to draw a design in the water with them.   But the Summer Neons are special!  Most of them have a shimmer which is unique for a neon polish, and they are more creamy than any other neon I've tried.  If you see any of these lingering around your beauty supply store - I highly recommend picking it up, regardless of the color.

It might look like I've used more than three colors, but I promise didn't!  Depending on which color was dragged towards which the colors shifted and mixed a bit.  Note the marked difference between the blues on my index finger and middle finger in the picture below.

I'll  be honest, when I started this water marble, the first 3 nails I did turned out like crap.  All the colors merged together and it looked like I made some vomit colored neon franken polish right on the nail.  Not good.  But the fourth one I did turned out beautifully - see ring finger right hand.  So I kept trucking and managed 9 great nails.  I re-did 2 of the 3 awful ones and just left the one kinda bad one on my right thumb.  I mean, I wear these things 3 days max so why bother?  (Although, that is my main text finger so I have to see it a lot... )

When all was said and done - I was SO happy with this marble and couldn't wait to share it!  It's my best one yet.  I've only done a handful of these.  I am a huge sucker for neons in the first place, so a neon marble??  Yes, please and thank you.

Here's the list of the month's challenges.  Tomorrow's challenge options are One Stroke or Ombre!  Guess which one I'm choosing!

I can't wait to see the other girls' marbles!!  I have never tried a dry marble so I'm interested to see those, and I never ever ever get tired of seeing water marbles!

    1. Sarah! What an awesome compliment! Have you tried one? They really can be frustrating sometimes but when it works out?? It's so awesome. I think the main thing is just trying to find polishes that work - for me anyway!
